Matt Whitham,

Architectural Designer

B. Arch, M. Arch

Matt Whitham joined our office in 2015 as an architectural designer. He has since worked on a variety of large modernization and master planning projects for several school districts, and has been involved in the construction administration process for our Sage Creek High School Performing Arts Center project for Carlsbad Unified School District.

Prior to joining Rachlin Partners, Matt worked extensively on cutting-edge projects including the Hyperloop transportation system where he led the planning and construction of a full-scale mockup in 2014. This mockup was featured at the Los Angeles Dwell on Design exhibition in 2015 to represent the UCLA School of Arts and Architecture.

Matt received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, an institution known for its emphasis on integrating new structural systems into contemporary design. While in Chicago, Matt designed creative furniture that was featured at Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth house for a full summer.

He returned to Los Angeles where he graduated with distinction from UCLA’s Master of Architecture II program. Here he learned advanced 3D modeling and large scale fabrication techniques using computer numeric control machinery and six axis robotics.

Raised in North Los Angeles, Matt enjoys staying active outdoors in the California sunshine. You can find Matt surfing, biking, hiking, or driving electric cars on the weekends.
